Jungle juice
Over the years, I have had many a chinwag with people across all walks, but none more unforgettable were the axiomatic philosophic wisdom of the opposite sex. Look, while in college, I worked on several group projects with this boy next door; mid-western brilliant white guy; a poster boy that exuded pure rugged American sexuality, compounded by modern cosmopolitan metro sexual allure.
But I salivate. Anyway, one day in the course of a little chit chat, he told me that his parents and grandparents worked all their lives at one of the Big Three automobile companies, and out of patriotism and family loyalty, he would never drive a foreign brand car, even if it were assembled in the United States.
Yet, more poignantly, he openly expressed that he had no reservations, whatsoever, against marrying a non-white woman. However, what he had misgivings about, was the potential societal problems such blissfulness would cause for the mixed race offspring – “Why complicate things”, he said. “Love is color blind if there are no children involved”…..Stay tuned for Part II….
